The town of Clayton is considered a satellite town of Raleigh, NC. Much of Clayton’s growth can be attributed to the town’s proximity to the Research Triangle area and access to major highways such as I-40 and US 70. Clayton is only 24.4 miles from Raleigh-Durham Airport.
Clayton’s largest employers are manufacturers like Caterpillar and biopharmaceutical companies like Grifols (formerly Talecris) and Nova Nordisk. Johnston Charter Academy, with 600+ students, is in close proximity to the center.
Clayton considers itself a “premier community for active families,” sporting many parks, walking trails, and recreational activites for the whole family.
Clayton is also home to Clemmons Educational State Forest, an 825-acre forest, it is North Carolina’s first educational forest.
